LOCAL PLANNING AND COORDINATION GROUPTo ensure that people with disabilities have meaningful input into the planning, co-ordinating and delivery of the Employment Supports component of the Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP), the Northern Regional Office of the Ministry of Community and Social Services has established a Local Planning and Coordination Group (LPCG) in each area. The membership of the Local Planning and Coordination Group consists of key stakeholders in the community including people with disabilities, service providers, and employers and representatives from the business community. The efforts of these volunteers provide mutual support in developing and evaluating local solutions to improving employment and training opportunities for people with disabilities. The LPCG provides advice and recommendations to the Regional ODSP Employment Supports Office regarding the ongoing co-ordination of employment support services in the community in order to identify gaps in services and supports available to meet the needs of people with all types of disabilities. Members have a thorough understanding of the needs of people with disabilities and knowledge of employment planning concepts, resources, labour market trends and employment opportunities for people with disabilities.
